The Isles aren't the only team to play six periods of a
series
at home this post-season without scoring.
Colorado, who was blanked 1-0 in Game 3 by San Jose, were
scoreless into overtime in Game 4. After failing on a
four-minute power play that carried over from regulation, Joe
Sakic sent the series back to San Jose with an overtime goal.
Game 5 is Saturday.
According to whowins.com, the Isles are the 7th team to not
score a goal at home in a series, but the fifth team in the last
four years:
<<
Fewest goals at home in series:
0 by the 1943 Boston Bruins (4-game Finals), the 1960 Chicago
Blackhawks (4-game Semis), the 2001 Ottawa Senators (4-game
Prelim), the 2001 Pittsburgh Penguins (5-game Semis), the 2002
Chicago Blackhawks (5-game Prelim), and the 2003 Minnesota Wild
(4-game Semis).>>
The Avs still have a long hill to climb. Teams leading 3-0
[like San Jose did] are 231-2 [all sports], with the '75
Islanders and the '42 Maple Leafs being the only exceptions to
the rule. [thanks whowins.com]

Bobby Holik's overtime goal assures that the Rangers will finish
25th, and WILL NOT have a chance to move up to #1 in this week's
draft lottery.
